About International Leadership Program (ILP)
Digital Media, Film & Journalism:
Make Your Creative Mark on the World
International Leadership Program - Digital Media, Film & Journalism (ILP-DMJ) is a 7 Days Program. It is specifically designed to provide high school and university students with a fantastic experience in the digital arts who are interested in stretching themselves creatively as film-makers, journalists, editors, and more.
You’ll discover your passion for developing the skills and knowledge you need to lead in a multimedia, digital world!
ILP Digital Media & Journalism program takes place at the City of Albuquerque, University of New Mexico, where Hollywood has changed in the new global digital film work.
Digital Media, Film & Journalism features workshops and simulations that give you hands-on experience in digital production, journalism, film editing, and audio and video broadcasts!
Lights, Camera, Action!
Take on roles in front of and behind the camera to learn the arts of directing, staging, videography, reporting, and post-production at the New York Film Academy City, as you create and shoot a short film or broadcast news segment.
Speakers and Site Events
As part of this Digital Media, Film & Journalism program, students meet with and learn from some of today’s most accomplished professionals in the media industry, and will visit significant sites around Santa Fe and Albuquerque.
Journalist for a Day
Practice real-world journalism skills, including editing, reporting, source analysis, and graphic layout to produce, edit and publish a digital newspaper or magazine. You’ll also explore digital-age reporting: blogging, podcasts and virtual media.
Albuquerque Film Academy
Meet experts in the various fields of digital media who will provide important insight into how to successfully navigate the ever-changing waters of journalism, editing techniques, team management, and more.

Is International Leadership Program: Digital Media, Film & Journalism – 7 Days to Startup for me?
This summer’s business program is for you if you are a high school and university student interested in exploring all of the various business career options available. ILP Digital Media, Film & Journalism is your springboard to achieving tremendous success in college and in a future career in business.To attend ILP Digital Media, Film & Journalism, you must be in grades 9–12 during the 2017-2018 school year. Many of our students are nominated by educators, leaders from youth organizations and participating institutions, but open enrollments are welcome from qualified high school students who want to make the most of this opportunity.
What is included in tuition?
Your tuition for ILP Digital Media, Film & Journalism includes housing, on-campus meals, supervisory personnel, program materials, all program activities, site visits, a Certificate of Completion and local transportation during the program.
However, your transportation to and from home and the program location is NOT included in tuition. While attending the program, you will only need money for off-campus meals, souvenirs, snacks and other incidentals.
How will I be supervised?
Your safety and well-being during the program is our highest priority. The program is structured so that you will reside in a safe, controlled environment. You will be closely supervised by professionally trained staff, including faculty advisors who serve as educational facilitators and chaperones, security personnel, operations personnel and a program coordinator.
Other safety measures include:
Greeting students at the designated airport upon their arrival and providing shuttle service directly to the program site, as well as providing shuttle service back to the airport on departure day.
Maintaining a student-to-staff ratio of 15-to-1.
Providing same-sex rooms and same-sex floors.
Requiring all students to attend all activities.
Checking rooms nightly and ensuring that students remain in their rooms.
Having night monitors in place to support students who may become ill or who have an emergency during the night.
Equipping all staff members with two-way communication devices.
Where will I stay?
For the summer 2017 ILP Digital Media, Film & Journalism program, all students are housed on college campuses.
How many students share a room?
Each room will house three students. You will have your own bed.
Can my parents attend the program?
No. Your parents or guardians are not allowed to accompany you during the program. Gaining independence, including experiencing new things on your own, is an essential part of your growth during the program. However, it is perfectly fine for your family to travel with you to the program location and stay in the area while you are attending the program.
Do I need to make my own flight arrangements?
Yes. Your tuition does not include transportation to and from your home and the program location. We recommend that you make necessary flight arrangements only AFTER you receive confirmation that you are officially enrolled.
Can special dietary needs be met?
We make every effort to meet the dietary needs of all our students, provided the request is submitted prior to the start of the conference. When you complete the Student Information Form, you will have the opportunity to make special dietary requests.
